We have been asked to repair paint that is cracking around 6 inspection rings. The cracking is at the pinked edge of the fabric patch over the inspection ring. The topcoat is cracked at the midpoint of the pinking and the paint peels away from that point for about 1/4 inch in both radial directions (the paint lifts from the fabric patch and from the wing covering fabric). The crack lengths are a few inches long around the patch circumference. The other inspection rings are OK. The color of the surface beneath the cracks are a light green.
What could have caused these cracks and what steps should be taken to repair them?

San AntonioI know this post was made back in March, but if you are still having issues with cracking and separating please contact me. I too am experiencing this same failure and would like to share my findings with you. I am in Georgetown, TX and I see you are in San Antonio. Perhaps we can see each other’s project and put our heads together.

512-826-5024I know this thread is old, but I am seeing a similar failure around inspection rings on the bottom of my fuselage. Any insight would be appreciated.
Dell,
Could you send me some pics of this? I am not aware of this issue. My email is andy@stewartsystems.aero.
Thanks,
Andy
