I received my Fabric Pro digital iron on Invoice #22-1595 two months ago. The Iron has worked fine all that time as I put the SF104 Dacron fabric on my Challenger II using the Stewart Systems instructions, until it suddenly went wide open heat. The heating element melted the black plastic adapter on the sole plate. The Dacron fabric was damaged due to overheat shrinking on the bottom fabric of the Left Wing.
Need a new iron and repairs on the fabric.(I also need to restore my confidence in this $199 digital iron.)
Sidney,
I’m sorry that you had trouble with that iron. That is the first defective fabric pro that we are aware of. If you can return it to us I will send you a new one under warranty. I would like to get that one back to the manufacturer to diagnose the issue. How much fabric is damaged? I will replace that as well. I will let Theresa in sales know that you will be contacting her and she will take care of it for you.
Andy
Andy,
The pieces of the iron fell out on the floor, but I think have them all. Do I need an authorization number from Stewart Systems to return the iron?
Regarding damaged fabric, the hole in the wing bay is quite obvious. Unknown is the extent of overheated fabric prior to that hole. I sent two pictures to Theresa to show the damage. These pictures are low resolution to conserve email bandwidth. I have higher resolution pictures that I could send to you. How can I determine which areas of the SF104 Dacron fabric that have been overheated beyond 350 degrees F? Have the overheated areas lost any strength or long-term durability?Sid
Sid,
Good to speak with you on the phone today. Thank you for collecting all the pieces, lol! We are sending out the new iron, Ekobond and 6 yards of fabric today to replace the bottom wing fabric entirely. I’m sorry for the inconvenience! Thank you for your understanding.
Andy
